Ilkurlka Roadhouse was established by the Spinifex people in Tjuntjuntjara to service community travel on the road running north to Irrunytju (Wingellina). It also services tourism along the Anne Beadell highway.
There are also strong cultural reasons for the existence of Ilkurlka.
Ilkurlka essentially fulfills a social need and is a not-for-profit operation. There quite simply is not enough traffic to ensure economic viability but without our existence travel, safety and cultural activity would suffer.
We are always seeking support. The support can come in many forms - volunteers, program funding, equipment and donations. If you feel that you can assist, please contact us.
